Reedbeds and constructed wetlands
management and maintenance

The maintenance of a reedbed does not require specialized labor or many controls, but it is recommended a minimum management through a few simple steps outlined below.

  • Septic tank and grease trap control. It is essential for the proper functioning of the wetland to periodically purge the septic tank and the grease trap.
Frequency: 1-2 years (depending on their capacity)
  • Weed control. Especially in the starting phase of the reedbed is possible that weeds take root on the gravel area thereby inhibiting the growth of aquatic plants: in this case it is sufficient to eradicate the weeds.
Frequency: 3 months in the starting phase, 6 months in the operating phase
